Undying Friendship; A Tale of Redwall
Book One; An Overdue Reunion
Chapter 7; It's Roomier Than it Looks
The crescent moon hung directly over the graveyard, casting faint moonlit shadows on the ground and illuminating the tombstones. Martin twisted his sword's hilt as it projected a part of the blueprints seen in Misteye's cave onto the ground through the ruby fixed onto the end. He paused when the shadow of a short figure appeared from behind him, causing him to wheel about in shock. The warrior found himself face-to-face with Grumm Trencher, the mole that he was once a good friend to. Martin began stammering, trying to find an explanation, when the mole spoke, but with Felldoh's voice.
"Martin, relax. It's just me. I possessed Grumm so we could get the bodies. Like I said, leave it to me." Martin recalled Felldoh's solemn remark toward how the bodies were to be retrieved. He now realized what the squirrel meant.
The group gathered around the graves of Felldoh and Rose to see how the excavating went. Felldoh- or, rather, Felldoh in Grumm's body- flexed his digging claws and turned to Martin and the rest of the travelers and said, "Now, I won't be blunt about it, but this is kind of a first for me. Hopefully I can get into Grumm's mind and trigger his digging skills without accidentally getting him to come to his senses." After a deep breath, the mole began to burrow into the ground to retrieve the corpses.

Meanwhile, several miles away, someone else was retrieving a corpse for a spirit they had to assist. Wulpp wiped sweat from his brow as he heaved a large boulder out of what used to be Marshank's prison pit. The ghost of Badrang loomed over the searat as he worked to uncover the tyrant's body from the rubble placed there by Tramun Clogg countless years ago. "Hurry up, you pitiful worm! I want to have time to throw that rubble onto Clogg when you're done. And by I want to, I mean I want you to," Badrang shouted to the rat below. Wulpp groaned as he lifted another large stone from the pit and muttered, under his breath, "Of course. What was I thinking?"
Back in Noonvale, Felldoh had successfully retrieved the coffins containing himself and Rose and, clambering out of the holes dug to get them, sighed in relief of not having to dig any more. "Hey, could you do me a favor and help me fill these holes back up? I am exhausted." The squirrel's companions gladly obliged and shoved the loam into the pits, taking care to place the grass on top and ensuring that the ground fit together. By the time they were done, which was three hours to sunrise, even they couldn't tell that someone had dug in that area. As Mathew loaded the coffins into the ship, Felldoh took Grumm's body into his dormitory and lay down in his bed. Then, the phantom squirrel parted with the now sleeping mole and drifted out the window to join his companions. Sometime later, the group was sailing south, toward Misteye's cavern. There they would begin the trek over the Forbidden Region and fulfill the prophecy. They knew that the fate of their homeland, even their world, depended on their success. They knew they were foretold to defeat a great evil seeking revenge. They knew they were bound to face many trials on their way, but were determined to face them and prevail. They knew that every second counted.
What they didn't know was that, from the bushes by the river they traveled on, two pairs of eyes watched them intently. And that the two watching them were in hot pursuit.
Here it is!
Now that I had some free time, I decided to do a short chapter just to make some progress and squeeze Badrang and Wulpp in there. Sorry it was so rushed.

Chapter 8 preview; In the Forbidden Region, our heroes prepare to face the first trial, with some unexpected results.
